Beside the Cathedral
We begin walking…along the Way…which goes beside the cathedral.

Lao Tsu noted that what can be named is not eternal but the nameless is the origin of heaven and earth.

The Cathedral Se was was first built around 1147 but was damaged by the great 1755 earthquake and the great fire which followed. It was rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century. The thoughts of those who worship inside have also changed over time.

Lao Tsu writes:
“Free from desire, you realize the mystery.
caught in desire, you see only manifestations.”

A mantra, a koan, a message to be pondered.

The cathedral looks very solid, doesn’t it?

“Darkness within darkness, the gateway to understanding.”
